Former Premier League record goalscorer and now turned BBC pundit Alan Shearer has slammed Danny Rose and his fellow team mates as rumours circulate that the squad are unhappy over their wages.

In an honest and all guns blazing interview with The Sun, Rose spoke of his desire for Spurs to sign more renowned players and to earn a bigger wage, with the current wage structure holding him back and his peers;

“In any walk of life, if you think you are worth a certain amount, why settle for less? I am not that person. If I get to levels I reached last season — and this goes out to everybody — I will make sure I get what I am worth. I don’t know how much longer I might have at this level. I’m not going to be stupid enough not to try and get the most out of it — medals, trophies and salary. As with everyone else in my team, in my opinion, I am worth more than I am getting.”

Following his interview, it was reported by The Sun that Rose received a “hero’s welcomes” when he turned up to training the next day whilst The Times stated that fellow Spurs players backed Rose over his controversial comments. However, Alan Shearer has come out and had his say on the matter, arguing that Rose and all the players didn’t deserve their wages to rise.

In specific regards to Rose, the 260 time league goalscorer said in a BBC interview;

“He hasn’t won anything with Spurs as of yet. He signed a new contract 10 or 11 months ago, signing a 5-year contract and was happy to do that. He hasn’t played in the past 7 months so how on earth he can come out and moan about the lack of money or lack of wages that he’s getting or other players are getting.”

“They (Spurs) haven’t won anything. Two years ago they had a great chance to win the league, they didn’t, they capitulated in the last month. Last year they had a great chance, I understand there’s been progression but these players haven’t won anything.”

“These players nose dived in the Champions League, a lot of them nose dive with England last Summer (Euro 2016) so at the minute, I don’t see how too many of them can say okay we deserve more money.”
