Chinese Consortium Interested In Newcastle United Takeover

A Chinese consortium is reportedly ready to make an investment in newly-promoted Newcastle United with owner Mike Ashley ready to sell a stake in the club.The club are currently staying silent about any takeover speculation, but Ashley is open to a deal should an appropriate offer be made.

Newcastle boss Rafa Benítez is understood to be in the dark about all of the speculation, which could have negative implications for his plans in the summer transfer window.

The Magpies have already confirmed the signing of Christian Atsu for £6 million from Chelsea but will aim to spend more as the window progresses. Benítez will be hoping that significant funds will be ready for the club still be available to him this summer after Ashley promised every penny of the extra Premier League cash to spend.

The owner has spent £262million on Newcastle thus far, buying it for £133m and loaning £129m in his 10 years in charge. However, should any takeover take place, the English businessman will be hoping for a higher figure to sell it.
