Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane has lauded Paul Pogba amidst rumours linking the Manchester United midfielder to the Santiago Bernabéu.

Speculation of a potential transfer only increased after Pogba labelled Madrid as ‘dream club’ for a lot of players whilst on France duty and now Zidane believes Los Blancos should be the 26-year-old’s next destination.

Pogba has seen himself rejuvenated since the arrival of Ole Gunnar Solskjær at Old Trafford, contributing to 20 goals and assists in the Premier League alone and Zidane believes United’s number six is ‘different’ to any other player.

“I like him a lot, that is nothing new,” Zidane told ESPN. “I know him personally. He is a truly different player. Few players can do what he can. He is a midfielder who can defend, attack, do everything.”

“But he is not my player, he is in Manchester. He has always said that, after Manchester, Madrid has always interested him. So when his experience at Manchester ends, why not come here to Madrid?”

Should Madrid make a move for the World Cup winner, it’s unlikely they’d acquire his services for anything less than £150m, despite having just two years remaining on his contract.

When quizzed about a potential move for Paris Saint-Germain’s Kylian Mbappé, Zidane suggested a player is worth whatever the club is willing to pay, saying: “You cannot say these days what a player is worth, €100m, €20m or  €300m. It is up to the clubs. When I came here they said the price of €72 million was crazy, and in the end look what happened.”
