Manchester United have joined the race for Chelsea’s Callum Hudson-Odoi, though the West London club are said to have told the 18-year-old he won’t be allowed to leave the club, even if he fails to commit to a new deal.

Hudson-Odoi was subject to multiple bids in the January transfer window from Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich and is believed to have wanted a move, joining Jadon Sancho in Germany, however, Chelsea rejected each bid with the highest thought to be around the £40 million mark.

According to The Times, the winger is desperate to leave the club after a lack of first-team football under Maurizio Sarri at Chelsea and Manchester United will join Bayern Munich in preparing a bid for his services this summer.

Interest in the London-born youngster is sure to rise following the trust showed in him by Gareth Southgate during the international break where a substitute appearance versus the Czech Republic was followed by his first start for England in a 5-1 win against Montenegro, despite not starting a Premier League fixture for Chelsea this season.

Hudson-Odoi is capable of playing on either wing and with United’s reported interested in Jadon Sancho, a possible switch for the Blues winger could be the better option due to having one year left remaining on his contract at Stamford Bridge in the summer, whereas Borussia Dortmund reportedly have no interest in allowing Sancho to leave.

With Sarri’s side set to return to action on Sunday at Cardiff, the Italian’s intentions with Hudson-Odoi may become clear. If he was to remain on the bench, it’s hard to believe it wouldn’t damage any hopes of the starlet staying at the club.
