Andreas Berta will make his decision on whether he will leave to join Manchester United in the summer, by Easter according to Italian reporter Gianluca di Marzio. The report also states that Mourinho has a ‘gentleman’s agreement’ to manage Manchester United next season following Louis van Gaal’s recent failings in the Champion’s League as well as in the league. He says Manchester United are convinced that he’ll accept and become their new sporting director.

Di Marzio states that Berta is talking with his family and evaluating ‘the project’ at Manchester United. It is believed Berta is around 60% sure he’ll leave. Manchester United want Berta to team up with Jose Mourinho and restore them back to their former glory days.

Though Ed Woodward flourishes in the commercial world, the Manchester United executive vice-chairman has struggled in the transfer market and United wants a man specifically for the transfer market.

Mourinho has recently been attending matches from all over Europe, believed to be scouting for potential signings at Old Trafford in the summer. The report says that Mourinho believes he needs a central defender, a midfielder of quality and a “really cool tip”. He says that Mourinho has not signed yet but a sort of “gentlemen’s agreement” exists. Mourinho believes he is already a ‘Red Devil’ and has got his first choice director to go with him.

Berta is believed to be a preferred choice of Mourinho and is the only football director he would consider working under. After his meltdown with Michael Emenalo, it was uncertain over whether Mourinho would ever accept working with a football director ever again. The situation became so hostile that the pair are no longer on speaking terms. Emenalo even refused to acknowledge Mourinho’s name when talking about his exit in December.
