After Manchester City’s 2-1 win over Manchester United on Sunday’s derby, a brawl between staff and players from both sides of Manchester is said to have broken out following a spat between José Mourinho and City shot-stopper Ederson.

It’s alleged Mourinho had water and milk thrown over him whilst Mikel Arteta was left needing treatment after a cut eyebrow left blood pouring down the Spaniard’s face. Pep Guardiola’s side were said to be celebrating the win with excessively loud music to which Mourinho didn’t take too well to.

As the United boss confronted his opposition’s dressing room, he is believed to have said something in Portuguese that sparked an ‘ugly reaction’ with Ederson being in the thick of it. The heated exchange led to sets of players and staff entering the tunnel from their respective dressing rooms before engaging in pushing and shoving, with punches suggested to have been thrown.

According to Goal, a number of bottles were also thrown with one leaving Mourinho covered in water and milk whilst Romelu Lukaku, who played a key part in Manchester City’s derby win, was heavily involved in the brawl.

Mourinho had accused City of being ‘lucky’ and having all the decision’s in their favour, making a point of Ander Herrera’s booking after Michael Oliver deemed the 28-year-old to have dived.

“Manchester City are a very good team and they are protected by the luck, and the gods of football are behind them. My first reaction is I feel sorry for referee Michael Oliver because he had a very good match but unfortunately he made an important mistake,” said Mourinho.

“It is like last season, exactly the same. You can speak about anything you want, you can bring any football theory, you can bring the stats, the ball possession, you can bring everything you want but, like last season, it is a huge penalty in a crucial moment of the game.”
