Manchester City News Transfer Rumours

Manchester City have wrapped up the services of French left back, Benjamin Mendy, from Ligue 1 champions Monaco according to Sky, with the fee is believed to be somewhere around £40 million. Mendy would become the third signing for Pep Guardiola before the transfer window is officially open.

The Spaniard is completing a sensational overhaul of the ageing City side, and Mendy would become the 2nd player to be signed from AS Monaco after Bernardo Silva joined recently.

Mendy, who is just 22, was signed from Marseille at the start of the 2015-2016 for just £5.5 million. The French left-back started his senior career at Le Havre before Marseille and made his France National Team Debut earlier this year against Luxembourg. Mendy was pivotal to Monaco’s season as they won the Ligue 1 and reached the Champions League semi-final, playing 39 games in all competitions, scored once and assisting 8 times.

Although Mendy had hilariously ruled out signing for City, the signs are all there that he is set to become Pep’s latest recruit. Liverpool were also interested in Mendy but it seems City have found their perfect replacement for Clichy who was released last month and are set to acquire his services.
