Bobby Duncan, the cousin of Anfield legend Steven Gerrard, scored a spectacular late equaliser for Liverpool’s youngsters on Thursday night, en route to lifting their first FA Youth Cup trophy since 2007.

Manchester City were on the brink of victory through Nabil Touaizi’s tap-in during first-half stoppage time, before goalkeeper Louie Moulden let Duncan’s swerving effort slip through his fingers to send the final to a penalty shoot-out.

Cole Palmer struck the crossbar with City’s second spot-kick, allowing Duncan’s equally prolific strike partner Paul Glatzel – the competition’s top scorer – to make it 5-3 and clinch victory for the young Reds.

Bobby Duncan has caught the eye of many Liverpool fans throughout this campaign, scoring 17 league goals in 17 games for their under-18 side.

The centre forward turns 18 in June, and many Reds fans will be excited to see him progress and join the likes of Trent Alexander-Arnold and, more recently, Ki-Jana Hoever in grabbing more opportunities in the first team setup further down the line.

With Liverpool’s starlets edging out Manchester City to win their first FA Youth Cup for 12 years, all eyes will now be on the two sides’ thrilling race to become Premier League champions with Jürgen Klopp’s side facing Huddersfield on Friday night.
