Liverpool legend John Aldridge has stated that Liverpool star man will be joining Barcelona next summer. Philippe Coutinho who was subject of serious interest from Barcelona this summer, could not complete a move to Barcelona this summer and Aldridge believes that Barcelona will come calling for him again next summer and he will leave.

In his Liverpool Echo column, John Aldridge stated: “Make no mistake, Coutinho will come back. He’s a lovely fella, he’s a good family man, and Barcelona turned his head. It can happen.”

“The move over there didn’t happen for him but I’m sure he’ll give us a really good season and wave goodbye next summer because Barcelona will come back for him, he’s too good to be ignored.”

The Spanish club had a total of three bids rejected by Liverpool and Jürgen Klopp and owners of the football club stood firm on their stance that they would not be selling their star man.

Aldridge continued by saying fans should get behind the Brazilian and not be sceptical of his commitment towards the club: “He’s just got to stay in form for Liverpool, put all this behind him and play with pride in the shirt. I understand why some fans are a bit unsure about him coming back but it’ll only take a belter from outside the area, and we’ll all be singing his name again.”

“Despite what happened, he won’t down tools. The World Cup is coming up and he’s a big part of that Brazil side, don’t forget. He’ll play well, hopefully, score 12, 14 goals, bag a load of assists, the fans will applaud him and he’ll go to Barça no problem.”

Coutinho has been rated as one of the best playmakers in the Premier League for quite some time now. Ever since his move from Inter Milan, he has been Liverpool’s main threat and almost helped the club to a league title under Brendan Rodgers.

Coutinho scored 13 times last season in the Premier League while providing his team-mates with an assist on seven occasions. Coutinho also created 65 chances and has his best campaign for the reds last season.
