Christophe Galtier, manager of high-flying Lille, has confirmed sought-after winger Nicolas Pépé will depart the French club this summer.

Pépé, who has scored 22 goals in Ligue 1 this season, only bettered by Kylian Mbappé’s 32, has been linked with a move to Europe’s biggest clubs, including Bayern Munich, Manchester United and Arsenal after an outstanding season at Les Dogues.

The 23-year-old has helped Lille secure a second-place finish in the French top-flight, earning Champions League qualification in the process. Lille boss Galtier has advised his player to ‘do his research’ before selecting a club to move to this summer and a move to Old Trafford would see Pépé drop into the Europa League.

Speaking to Canal+, Galtier said: “Nicolas Pépé will leave. Life’s like that, football’s like that today. He is a player of the highest level who will have a big decision to make on the choice of his next club.”

“There will be a battle between the great European teams. I hope that he will take a good amount of time to think about it and do his research.”

Pépé is set to be available for close to £70m, according to Goal, and playing on the right and being left-footed fits the criteria for Ole Gunnar Solskjær’s side this summer, having used Juan Mata, Romelu Lukaku and Jesse Lingard as right-wing options at times this season.
