According to Sky Sports, West Ham have opened talks with Paris Saint-Germain to sign Javier Pastore with a possible deal that would be worth up to £17.5m.

The French club are willing to sell the midfielder as they aim to comply with UEFA’s Financial Fair Play regulations after last summers signings of Neymar and Kylian Mbappé. Pastore joined PSG from Palermo back in 2011 and went on to make 265 appearances, scoring 45 goals during his spell at the club.

Pastore endured a rough year under Unai Emery this year which has led to rumours of an exit for quite some time with the Argentine admitting himself back in March that his time at the club was coming to an end, saying: “My time in Paris is coming to an end, and I am coming to terms with this. I still have one year left on my contract, and I do not know how this will end up.”

Manuel Pellegrini reportedly wants to make five new signings this summer as he begins his first season at the helm after David Moyes’ departure last month. If interested in the opportunity to move to London, Pastore could become Pellegrini’s first addition at the Hammers and would aid his promise to bring attacking football to the London Stadium.
