Leicester News Transfer Rumours

Leicester are close to signing Hull City Centre back, Harry Maguire, according to Sky reporter Rob Dorsett. The young English defender is all set to join the Foxes in a £17 million deal.

Leicester have an ageing defensive line-up with first-team centre-back pairing of Wes Morgan and Robert Huth, 33 and 32 respectively. The age factor was more or less evident as the Foxes conceded 63 goals last season compared to the 36 they conceded in the title winning season of 2015-2016. The signing of Harry Maguire, who is just 24, will bring in much-needed youth to the back line.

Maguire, who came through the youth setup of Sheffield United, joined Hull in 2014. The 24-year-old enjoyed a good campaign individually, last season, was also speculated to be in the plans of Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino. Maguire is a modern day defender who is both imposing in the air (winning 69% of aerial duels) and also is excellent with the ball at his feet, completing 29 take ons; more than any other centre-back.

Negotiations of the deal are believed to be at an ‘advanced stage’ and an official announcement is awaited from the Leicester City camp.
