According to data recently released by the CIES Football Observatory, four of Leicester City’s young players can be counted amongst the most valuable in Europe. The latest report lists the 100 biggest under-21 prospects in Europe’s top five leagues and Wilfred Ndidi, Kelechi Iheanacho, Ben Chilwell and Demarai Gray all make the list.

Ndidi tops the list for City, with his consistently excellent performances in Leicester’s midfield helping him to 11th in Europe with a calculated value of €64.8 million (£57.3m), up from €48.7m in just three months. This is an obvious indictment of Ndidi’s rising stock within the footballing world, putting him above stars such as Real Madrid’s Marco Asensio and Milan’s Gianluigi Donnarumma.

Gray is another to benefit from increased starts. An increase in value of 16% up to €24.1m is enough to see him place in 43rd, the 7th highest Englishman. Iheanacho has seen a 13% drop in his value, but his €19.4m is enough to place in 56th. Finally Ben Chilwell, his 84th position is thanks to a 56% rise in his stock, with the talented left back now valued at €12.2m.

With Puel’s demonstrable faith in youth, there is a great platform for Leicester’s young players to breakthrough and make an impact on the larger stage. Gray and Chilwell have been the obvious beneficiaries so far, with Hamza Choudry also making his first-team debut, but it is reported the Puel is also big fans of both Harvey Barnes and George Thomas, even cancelling a loan move for the latter.
