WATCH: Kelechi Iheanacho Assists Jamie Vardy On His Debut

Kelechi Iheanacho made an instant impact on his first showing for his new club as Leicester City beat Borussia Monchengladbach to complete their pre-season preparations before facing Arsenal. on the opening day of the Premier League season.

Following concerning defeats at Wolves and Burton, Leicester ended their pre-season campaign on a high to dismiss any concerns their fans harboured.

New signing Iheanacho started among the substitutes at the King Power Stadium along with Riyad Mahrez. Demarai Gray was given a chance to impress on the right wing. Danny Drinkwater, who has been linked to Chelsea, did not make the matchday squad. News soon followed that the midfielder was suffering from a slight thigh strain.

Iheanacho limped off just 17 minutes into his substitute appearance, but Leicester boss Craig Shakespeare that he was only brought off as a precaution. Before the Nigerian striker was subbed off, he was able to assist his new partner Jamie Vardy. Iheanacho showed his pace to run into space before using his awareness to pick out Vardy.

If last night gave a clue at what is to come at the King Power Stadium, Leicester could find themselves fighting for a Europa League spot if both Vardy and Iheanacho can form a formidable partnership for the foxes.
