Diego Maradona has slammed Cristiano Ronaldo after the recent Ballon d’Or winner claimed he was the best player of all time. Ronaldo, who’s latest award tied him with Lionel Messi’s tally, has never been shy of backing himself and his latest comments have caused Maradona to hit back.

Speaking to France Football after picking up the prestigious prize, the Real Madrid star said: “I’m the best player in history, in the good moments and the bad ones. I respect everyone’s preferences, but I’ve never seen anyone better than me. I have always thought that.”

“No footballer can do the things I can. There’s no player more complete than me.”

Barcelona fans certainly didn’t take too well the Ronaldo’s comments and neither did Maradona. Asked whether the 32-year-old’s comments were true, the Argentine responded: “Tell him to quit f*cking around.”

“From the few players I saw, amongst the greatest were Di Stefano, Cruyff and Messi. Cristiano [Ronaldo] could be in there as well.”
