Sergio Ramos has publicly disagreed with Cristiano Ronaldo following the goalscoring phenomenon’s claim that Real Madrid are missing players who left the club in the summer, such as Pepe, Álvaro Morata and James Rodríguez.

Los Blancos have had a poor start to the La Liga campaign and sit eight points behind rivals Barcelona after just eleven games. A draw and loss to Tottenham in the Champions League have not helped Zinedine Zidane’s side shift the pressure off of both him and the squad, though Ramos says the club are not missing anyone.

“I don’t agree with him that the squad is weaker, it seems to be an opportunistic opinion. Nobody thought that when we won the Super Cups,” the Spaniard was quoted by Marca.

“We aren’t missing anyone, we have won everything with the players that are here now. The squad has changed, but some players contribute some things and others contribute other things.”

“We all still hold him [Ronaldo] in the same regard. We know how to handle the way he is because, after all, he does so much for us throughout the season.”

Ronaldo has scored one league goal in the Spanish top-flight this season and the Portuguese star has recorded a 2.5% conversion rate thus far, courtesy of WhoScored. The stat brings further embarrassment to Ronaldo given Lionel Messi would have to miss his next 507 shots to match his Ballon d’Or rivals conversion rate.

The Argentine has scored 12 goals for Barcelona in the league this season from 69 attempts, perhaps a key reason as to why Barcelona have exceeded expectations following the exit of Neymar.
