Costa Rica have qualified for next year’s FIFA World Cup through a 95th-minute equaliser from Kendall Watson against Honduras. The goal, which you can watch below in all its glory, brought some incredible seems as it sent a nation of just under five million people to the world’s biggest competition.

Bryan Ruiz cross from the right left others fighting for who wanted it more, and Watson’s desire to be a national hero paid off and he leapt highest to head home and send his country to Russia next year. The result leaves Honduras in fifth place in their group, falling behind Panama, USA, Costa Rica and Mexico.

Despite finishing in third place, USA will still qualify for the tournament, provided they can better Panama’s result against Costa Rica when they face Trinidad and Tobago in two days time. Though, a Honduras or Panama win, with the U.S failing to secure all three points would see them drop out of the qualification spot.

You can see Kendall Watson’s emphatic equaliser below, and the surrounding emotion inside the stadium from the players, fans and the commentators who were witnessing an incredible moment in the country’s footballing history. It’s well worth the watch.
