Everton Featured Transfer Rumours

Over recent days, Everton forward Romelu Lukaku has expressed his ambition to leave Everton, claiming that he won’t sign a new contract due to the club ‘lacking ambition’, this has straight away attracted the attention of the media and fans of many clubs around Europe, who could all be looking to sign the 23-year-old Belgian forward, who has shown so much potential to be one of the world’s best number 9’s.

Romelu’s Rise

From a very early age, coming through the R.S.C Anderlecht academy in Belgium, it was very clear that the mix of Lukaku’s physical presence, determination to succeed as well as his natural technical ability meant that he would always have the potential to play at the top level. Netting 33 times in the Belgian First Division A, attracted the interest from many top European clubs, before he eventually signed for Chelsea for £20,000,000, aged just 18 and being tipped as one of the most promising young players in Europe, put a lot of pressure on to the forward’s shoulders to deliver in the Premier League.

Despite this, after arriving in England, Chelsea straight away addressed the point that with the Belgian being so young, wasn’t ready to lead the line for the European giants, and needed to be loaned out in order to continue his development. In loans spells at both West Brom and Everton between 2012 and 2014, he netted an impressive 32 times, showing that even at such a young age, he was quickly developing and becoming a nightmare for defences of the highest level.

However, now Chelsea Manager José Mourinho was one of the few to be heavily impressed by the youngster, and sold him on a permanent deal, back to Everton for a club record £28,000,000.

Ever since arriving at Goodison Park on a permanent deal, Lukaku has been the standout player in The Toffee’s attacking line, and has more than lived up to the price tag they paid to keep him in Merseyside, undoubtedly meaning they will make a profit on him if they grant the 23-year-olds wishes and allow him to leave the club.

What Options Are Available To Lukaku?

With Lukaku already netting 21 times in the Premier League for Everton this season, more than any other player in the division, Everton’s number 10 will have many top clubs queuing up to sign him if Everton were top let him go. The likes of Manchester United, Chelsea and Real Madrid have already reportedly expressed their interest in signing the highly rated forward, and there will be many other clubs battling it out for the signature of the Premier League’s top scorer.

Despite the reports of Manchester United’s interest in Lukaku, many say that a move to Old Trafford seems an unlikely outcome, with José Mourinho previously being the one to sell Lukaku to Everton, as well as the fact it is expected that Zlatan Ibrahimovic will soon sign on for another year for the Red Devils, would there be space for him at the club?

A return to Stamford Bridge seems a lot more of a likely outcome for the Belgian, with Diego Costa reportedly wanting out of Chelsea, and apparently not having the best relationship with Antonio Conte, it would mean that Chelsea would be left without a world-class centre-forward, time for a return?

Other big money offers to other clubs outside of the Premier League could also be available, and possibly seem more glamorous for Lukaku, however with him building a reputation, and looking to be fully adapted to one of the toughest leagues in the world, would the young forward be ready to leave yet? Or want to spend more time in England to win trophies?

Whatever happens in the saga of Romelu Lukaku, it is undoubted that many clubs will be queuing for his signature, who is showing so much potential, and could be one of the most intriguing transfer stories of the upcoming transfer window.
