Marco Silva has rebuffed any suggestions that Richarlison could move to rivals Liverpool this summer after reports that the Brazilian’s agent had met Jürgen Klopp surfaced.

Richarlison joined Everton last year for a fee that could rise to £50million, following Silva after the Portuguese coach ditched Watford for the Toffees.

Brazilian outlet UOL Esporte reported that Velasco, Richarlison’s agent, had met Liverpool boss Klopp recently. However, ahead of Everton’s home clash with Arsenal, Silva cleared up any suggestions that Richarlison would swap blue for red in Liverpool.

“You have to smile, nothing more,” Silva told the Liverpool Echo.

“This morning I was at our session doing my job. For us, this speculation is not important to talk about. Richarlison is our player, all of us are happy with him and he is very happy here. He has many, many things to keep proving at our club.”

“I am 100% sure he will do that in the next few seasons. He’s a really important player for us. I was 100% sure he could help us and fit well in our club, and because of that, I asked our club to do everything we could to sign him.”

“Of course I’m happy, he is happy. My job is to keep working with him, he’s 21-years-old. I don’t have doubts he can keep improving.”

The 21-year-old helped ease fans fears after responding to the rumours himself via Twitter, tweeting ‘I’m happy’ accompanied by pictures of him in an Everton shirt. Should the unthinkable happen, it’s hard to see where Klopp would see fit for the Blues star, given the formidable front-three of Sadio Mané, Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah, who have helped Liverpool enter their first title race since Brendan Rodgers side finished second in 2013.
