Chelsea Manchester United News Transfer Rumours

According to Sky Sports’ Italian reporter, Gianluca Di Marzio, Manchester United have raised an interest in Inter Milan winger Ivan Perišić.

Inter have set a valuation of about €55-60m, with Manchester United reportedly offering €35m. The Croatian was understood to have met up with Red Devils manager José Mourinho about a month ago, and the two clubs have been talking since.

The Croatian joined the Italian outfit in 2015 from Wolfsburg and has enjoyed a fine season in the Serie A for Nerazzurri, scoring ten goals and contributing six assists. His contract will expire in 2020, but with the right price, Inter could be willing for the Red Devils to swoop for the 28-year old.

Stefano Vecchi’s side are looking to revamp their side this summer, after enduring a miserable 7th-placed finish this season coupled with an exit in the group stages of the Europa League.

When speaking to Sky Sports at the Monaco Grand Prix on Saturday, manager Mourinho told Sky Sports News HQ that the club’s executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward is in charge of negotiating deals this summer.

“He (Woodward) knows since March, who I want, what I want, how much I want. He knows everything since March and now it’s for him to work, because he will have holidays in August and I will be working.”

Perisic’s exit could see Federico Bernardeschi or Domenico Berardi breaking into their first team – whilst if United seal a deal for the Croatian winger, it could increase competition for the three positions in United’s conventional 4-2-3-1 system behind the striker.

The likes of Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Marouane Fellaini and Juan Mata will have increased competition for their spots next season – and Perisic’s arrival could also spell the end of out-of-favour winger Anthony Martial, who has only made 25 appearances this term.

It is unclear where Perisic will fit exactly in José Mourinho side next season, but the Manchester outfit are among those interested.

Mourinho’s ex-side Chelsea are also interested in the player, according to Sky Sports journalist Kaveh Solhekol.

Antonio Conte has reportedly enquired about the player, with the champions hoping to find a suitable replacement for star playmaker Eden Hazard – who has regularly shined this season.

It is likely Perisic will function just behind the lone striker in Conte’s revolutionary 3-4-3 system, which has proved so effective all season long.
