Eden Hazard is reportedly on the verge of coming to an agreement with Real Madrid to join the Spanish club at the end of the season.

The Belgian admitted he wanted to leave the Blues last summer, however, a move did not materialise and he returned to Stamford Bridge after the World Cup in Russia.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Marca, Madrid, Chelsea and Hazard himself are nearing an end to the saga and the 27-year-old will travel to Spain in the coming days to finalise a future transfer. It’s understood Zinedine Zidane gave his approval for the deal after returning to the Santiago Bernabéu.

The Frenchman spoke about his love for Hazard earlier this week, though denied the request to answer questions about a possible move for him, saying: “He’s a player I have always appreciated. He is fantastic.”

“I will not give my personal opinion about what may happen because the season has not ended. He has played in France, I have watched him a lot and I know him personally,” the Madrid boss added.

In December, Hazard spoke about a move to Madrid himself, insisting everyone knows his interest in a possible switch: “Me, you know me, I’ve always loved Real, even before Zinedine Zidane, we’ll see what happens,” the Chelsea star told the Mirror.

“As I said, I’m already finishing this year with Chelsea, I still have a year of contract after this year, we’ll see.”
