Eden Hazard helped Chelsea dump Tottenham out of the FA Cup as they progressed towards the final of the competition after a 4-2 win at Wembley this afternoon. The Belgian started the came on the bench, along with Diego Costa, as Antonio Conte’s masterminded Chelsea to their 7th FA Cup final in the 21st century.

Hazard was expected to start the game, but less than 2 hours before kick-off the news broke that he, and Diego Costa, would be on the bench. Advantage Tottenham, or so everyone thought.

A set-piece double from Willian meant Conte’s decision to start the Brazilian was spot-on, and the introduction of Hazard brought a goal and assist from Chelsea’s star man.

Following the final whistle, Hazard spoke to the BBC and revealed he was fully onboard with Antonio Conte’s decision to start him from the bench:

“The manager told me yesterday.”

“You know you have to expect everything in football. When you play football you want to play every game, but I think he did a great choice,” said the 26-year-old.

“He put Willian, Willian scored the two first goals so it’s good for us.”
