Champions League Juventus News

Juventus Captain Giorgio Chiellini will not make it in time for their Champions League tie on Wednesday. The Italian defender is reportedly out with a calf injury.

According to Dutch news outlet, NOS, Chiellini was injured during training on Monday. The injury is not a major one, but Juventus fear the 34-year-old will not make it in time for their clash against Ajax. With Chiellini out and veteran Andrea Barzagli also injured, Daniele Rugani is set to start the game.

The Italian giants go into the clash in Amsterdam with a few injury concerns. Emre Can is a doubt for the fixture too. There is a bright side, though. The club announced Cristiano Ronaldo is in contention to start on Wednesday after he was rested as Massimiliano Allegri’s team came from behind against AC Milan to win 2-1, courtesy of a Moise Kean winner. The win saw Juventus sit twenty points clear of Napoli after 31 Serie A games, only losing one in that total.

Ajax were able to knock-out Santiago Solari’s Madrid in the Round of 16 due to Ramos’ absence after a 4-1 win at the Santiago Bernabéu. Another upset by ‘de Godenzonen’ may just be on the cards with absentees expected from the Bianconeri.
