Robert Lewandowski has told Bayern Munich he wants a new challenge this summer, according to his agent Pini Zahavi.

The Polish striker scored 29 goals in the Bundesliga this season but after yet another Champions League exit to Real Madrid, he is said to be looking for a career change.

Zahavi, who also represented Neymar in his world record €222m to Paris Saint-Germain last year, has told SportBild, via Sky Sports, that his client wishes to leave Germany in search of a new club, revealing: “Robert feels he needs a change and a new challenge in his career. The managers of Bayern know about it.”

Lewandowski’s current contract runs until 2021 and whilst his agent has expressed his desire for change, Bayern Munich chief executive Karl-Heinz Rummenigge had admitted earlier this month that the club have no plans to sell their star-man, telling Kicker he will be at the Allianz Arena next season: “They do not have to worry about Robert Lewandowski and the relationship with Bayern.”

“We know what we have in Robert Lewandowski. I am very happy that we still have such a long-term contract. There’s no need to worry. He will play at Bayern Munich next season.”

If the 29-year-old is allowed to leave, there will be no shortage of interest in his services. Real Madrid, Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea are all said to be watching the situation and Sky Sports reported back in February that it would be the two Premier League clubs who would battle it out.

With Romelu Lukaku only being at Old Trafford for one season and Álvaro Morata reportedly returning to Italy this summer, it would be no surprise to see Chelsea push hardest to sign Lewandowski, provided the future of Antonio Conte is resolved first.
