It’s fair to say that Arsenal have not had the best of seasons in a year that has spanned a 10-2 defeat to Bayern Munich in the Champions League, sitting 6th in Premier League table, and also increasing talk of top players departing the club.

However, despite all of this negativity, it appears that the Arsenal board are finally trying to change their ways with increasing speculation about a Director of Football being appointed before the start of the 2017/18 Premier League season.

In recent weeks, names such as Marc Overmars and Michael Zorc have been thrown into the mix but no concrete reports have been confirmed as of yet. The report of a Director of Football proves that some of the higher ups at the club are finally looking to change their ways and attempt to bring some more silverware to the club.

However, in his press conference today, Arsène Wenger has rejected any claims regarding the appointment of a Director of Football:

“No. Director of football, I don’t know what it means. Is it someone who stands on the road and directs the players left and right? I never understand what it means.”

“I’m manager of Arsenal and as long as I am the manager I will decide what happens on the technical front.”
