News Transfer Rumours West Brom

Hull City midfielder Tom Huddlestone could be set for a sensational return back to the Premier League as West Bromwich Albion are reportedly set to activate the £2 million relegation clause in the player’s contract.

Hull City were relegated to the second-tier of English football just under a month ago, and face the pain of losing many key players to current Premier League clubs. Huddlestone is a clear example of this, who could leave the for less than the £5 million the Tigers paid for him back in 2013.

The Baggies are reportedly looking to replace former player Darren Fletcher, who will be joining Stoke City, in the summer transfer window. Should the deal go through, it will make the midfielder the second Hull City player to join in the last six months, with Jake Livermore joining in the January transfer window. The deal is set to be for a fee of £2m, due to a clause in Huddlestone’s contract.

Albeit relegated, Huddlestone was one of the shining stars for the Tigers, making 31 appearances across the entirety of the Premier League campaign. Following Hull’s relegation, the 30-year-old was devastated, tweeting “Shambolic day, you fans have been fantastic, with performances such as today, we don’t deserve the level of support we were given.” Perhaps Huddlestone may prefer to pay back the support Tigers fans gave his side last year, but it’s likely a move back to the Premier League could be on for the former-Tottenham man.
