Departing Watford manager Walter Mazzarri has revealed that he has no regrets over his year tenure managing Watford in the Premier League.

The Hornets currently sit 16th in the Premier League table, but could finish as high as 12th if other results go their way on the final game of the season.

Monday’s 4-3 defeat to Chelsea was Watford’s fifth loss in a row since a 1-0 win over Swansea all but secured their Premier League safety. Since that home match on 15th April, Watford have slipped from 10th to 16th.

Ahead of Watford’s fixture against Manchester City tomorrow, Mazzarri was rather open in his final press conference as manager;

“For someone that always wants more, I always have the image in my head of when we were seventh and we beat Everton, I would like to have that squad for the rest of the season and then I think we would have been able to do greater things this year.”

“Never in my career have I had so many injuries in one season. There were some games I did not even know who to put on the pitch. But, honestly, I don’t have any regrets.”
