Club Deportivo Lugo beat Sporting Gijon 3-1 to move up to fourth in Spanish Segunda Division on Saturday but a goal from the goalkeeper, Juan Carlos, took the headlines.

CD Lugo took the lead 10 minutes into the first half as Iriome Gonzalez curled a sweet strike past the Gijon ‘keeper. Gijon later equalised as Carlos Carmona scored from the penalty spot before Jaime Romero restored CD Lugo’s lead with a powerful header from a beautiful cross.

After a CD Lugo free-kick was cleared back into their half by Gijon, CD Lugo’s keeper Juan Carlos did the unthinkable. The keeper hit a long-range effort from inside his own half and scored. He caught his opposite number, Diego Marino, yards off his line and decided to take advantage. Whether it was down to accuracy or a clear fluke, Juan Carlos sealed all three points for Club Deportivo Lugo.

The video of the goal can be found below:

As the camera zoomed in on Gijon’s keeper, a CD Lugo fan was also caught on camera celebrating a bit too wildly:

What do you think guys; Was Juan Carlos’s goal a fluke or pure genius?
