Southampton are reportedly close to agreeing fee with Lille for attacking midfielder Sofiane Boufal.
It was reported that Southampton had a bid for Boufal rebuffed in recent days but it now seems as if an agreement is close. The fee will exceed the current transfer record of £15.5M paid for flop Dani Osvaldo back in October 2013.
The young Moroccan international has been heavily linked with Southampton for months now and it finally seems that the club have got the ball rolling. Sofiane can play anywhere across the front four and if the deal goes through he will be a massive signing for the season ahead.
If he signs for Southampton, he will be Sadio Mane’s direct replacement. Sofiane and Sadio both have very similar qualities to each other, possessing lightening pace, quick dribbling and the ability to change a game singlehandedly.
Sofiane is currently recovering from a Meniscus tear that occurred at the tail end of last season. He is expected to return in mid September.
