Bayern Munich have recently confirmed the signing of Real Madrid playmaker James Rodríguez on a two-year loan deal with an option to make the transfer permanent for €32.5 million. The Colombian joined the Spanish giants in 2014 following a fantastic World Cup campaign with his country for a fee reported to be around £65 million. However, since his arrival, the 25-year-old has seen his development stagnate.

After only making 22 appearances in the La Liga last season, Rodriguez was reported to have asked to leave the club in the summer, with Premier League clubs Chelsea and Manchester United interested.

However, the midfielder’s future has finally been determined as Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich unveiled their new signing today. In an interview, the club’s chairman, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge went on to say:

“Signing James Rodríguez was our coach Carlo Ancelotti’s biggest wish, we’re delighted we’ve been able to complete this transfer.”

“James is a very versatile player. He’s a goalscorer himself, he sets up a lot of goals and on top of that he’s great from set-pieces, there’s no question that this transfer further increases the quality in our team.”

Interestingly, Ancelotti was the man to bring Colombia’s captain to Los Blancos following the World Cup and has now brought the player to the Bundesliga, meaning the Italian could be the right man to bring out the best in Rodríguez once again.
