Brighton Huddersfield Town News Transfer Rumours

Newly promoted sides Brighton & Hove Albion and Huddersfield are both interested in signing Liverpool defender Joe Gomez on a season-long loan this summer. The 20-year-old only had three senior appearances for the Reds last season with injuries playing a key role in a lack of game time.

The Englishman could be sent out on loan for the new Premier League season to try and get consistent first team football, but current manager Jürgen Klopp wants to see how his youngsters perform during the pre-season before making any decisions about their futures.

Both sides are optimistic that they could reach a deal with the Merseyside club, but it is down to the Reds to decide whether or not Gomez is available for a loan deal. With Liverpool limited in defence, the youngster could remain at the club under a backup role, but it is expected that any loan deal will assure defender consistent, first-team football.

Brighton manager Chris Hughton has discussed the clubs interest, telling the Brighton Argus“We’ve registered our interest but he’s not our player. It will be up to Liverpool. I’d like to think we are very much in the running.”
