Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeon has opened up on Manchester United’s interest in Antoine Griezmann and has refused to rule out a possible switch for the Frenchman.
Griezmann, who have previously revealed his urge to play with international team-mate Paul Pogba at club level, is said to have a €100m release clause, and many media outlets, including Sky Sports, have reported that Manchester United would be willing to pay it. The Red Devils, who this week have been named as the richest club in the world, recently broke the world record transfer fee for Paul Pogba and it seems José Mourinho is willing to break the bank once again in hope to restore United to the top again.
Ahead of Atletico’s game with Eibar tonight, Simeone responded to questions over Griezmann to Manchester United with ‘I don’t tie anybody down’.
Speaking to AS, the Argentinan revealed:
“I don’t tie anybody down. I simply work in order to continue getting better for the good of the club.”
“He is in an extraordinary moment, he is working well and has got back on the scoresheet. He is currently in great form and it’s normal that the top clubs in the world want him. I’m not surprised that those that can afford him are seeking him.”
