Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s Knee Operation A Success, Confirms Agent Mino Raiola

Zlatan Ibrahimovic will return to the playing field sometime in the near future after his agent, Mino Raiola, released a statement confirming that the Swedish forward had undergone a successful knee operation and will make a full recovery.

The 35-year-old striker suffered cruciate knee ligament damage in a Europa League win over Anderlecht on 20 April, sparking speculation that his career would be curtailed as such an injury usually spells a difficult and lengthy recovery period on the sidelines.

“Zlatan Ibrahimovic has undergone successful knee surgery. He will make a full recovery and has not suffered a career-ending injury.” read the statement from Mino Raiola.

“The procedure was performed by Freddie Fu, M.D., and Volker Musahl, M.D., of the UPMC Sports Medicine program in Pittsburgh.”

“Zlatan has started rehabilitation at UPMC and will remain under the care of Dr. Fu and Dr. Musahl throughout his recovery.”

“Zlatan and the medical team are not available for interviews at this time. Additional updates will follow at a later date.”

That said, Ibrahimovic’s Old Trafford future remains in the balance as his recovery period is expected to take till the end of the year, while his one-year deal is set to expire in the summer. The talismanic forward has been a constant among the goals for Mourinho’s United, scoring 28 goals in 46 appearances so far.
