Manchester bound?- Why Paul Pogba would be a great signing for United

Manchester United Transfer Rumours

In recent weeks, rumours linking Paul Pogba with a move back to Old Trafford, for a world record fee, have gathered more and more pace as more news sources have started to report the news that the Frenchman could be returning to the Theatre of Dreams. In recent days, the likes of Di Marzio and Sky Sports News have also jumped upon the bandwagon and are now also reporting that the 23 year old could be set for a move back to the club who he grew up at.

But what would the Juventus star bring back to Manchester?

A first thing that Pogba would bring to Old Trafford is the status of a ‘marquee signing,’ a phrase that has often been used by Chief Executive Ed Woodward as well as previous Manager Louis van Gaal, by doing this Pogba’s name alone would be able to return a large amount of the believed £100,000,000 fee that was paid for him, just through advertisement of his name and shirt sales.

On the pitch, Pogba would undoubtedly bring a different dimension to United’s midfield, in the fact they would have a world class player able to do the role as a box to box midfielder. United do not currently have this with this talent and many fans believe it is what has been lacking since the likes of Roy Keane and Paul Scholes left the club. The missing link in the United jigsaw?

Paul Pogba’s raw pace and power would also be a very welcome edition to Old Trafford, given the current lack of size and power in their squad, with the likes of Juan Mata, Daley Blind, Memphis Depay and many other players at the club not contributing to them having a very physical squad, on many occasions last season teams further down the table were able to snatch a result against United by using their physicality to stop them, the addition of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, and now maybe Paul Pogba, would undoubtedly strengthen United in this area.

The Frenchman would also fit into Moruinho’s squad without many problems fitting in, this is due to the fact he already knows a large amount of the squad due to his previous spell at United. The likes of Jesse Lingard and Timothy Fosu-Mensah know Pogba through their time together in the United academy, meaning that in this sense Pogba wouldn’t be travelling into unknown territory. Pogba also has a working relationship with both Morgan Schneiderlin and Anthony Martial due to their time together this Summer at Euro 2016.

In my opinion, Paul Pogba would be an ideal fit for United, and a player that could anchor their midfield for years to come due to his ability both on and off the ball, and the fact his phisicality matches perfectly for a Premier League midfielder. As well as this, with him being just 23 years old their is plenty of room for improvement for a player that has already managed to get into the UEFA Team Of The Year at such a young age.

The final piece in the United jigsaw?
