Manchester United News Transfer Rumours

Benfica centre-back Victor Lindelöf is set to undergo a medical ahead of his €35million move to Old Trafford, the club has announced today. The fee is believed to be €35million initially alongside some significant performance-related bonuses which could increase the fee.

The 22-year-old will be Manchester United’s first signing for the Red Devils and a major defensive reinforcement to partner last season’s acquisition of Eric Bailly.

An important factor of José Mourinho bringing Lindelöf to Old Trafford is his ability to be able to play out from the back, similar to Eric Bailly. Mourinho expects the partnership to serve Manchester United for the next decade.

Manchester United tried to sign the Swede in the winter window but Benfica demanded an unrealistic fee of €60m, Lindelof then signed a new deal with the Portuguese outfit, with the contract ending in 2021 but it seems that his time with the Primeira Liga champions has come to an end.

Premier League champions Chelsea tried to sign the towering centre-back last summer with an offer of €35 million plus €10 million in bonuses. They then chose to re-sign David Luiz from Paris Saint-Germain.
