According to a report from theunitedpages, José Mourinho made the Armenian star cry after subbing him off at half-time against Manchester City, leaving the midfielder to ask to leave the club.
They also claim that the squad & backroom staff of José Mourinho were shocked with Mkhitaryan’s weak mentality, meaning Mourinho has failed to rely on Mkhitaryan and can no longer start him in important games.
It’s highly unlikely that this occurance is 100% reliable, but it does make for interesting reading with the way Mkhitaryan has been pushed aside. Time will tell if Mkhitaryan can cement a place at Old Trafford after arriving from Dortmund, especially after Manchester United’s poor start to the season.
The Manchester United boss spoke about the 27-year-old in a press conference before United’s fixture against Fernabache, saying:
“Fitness is one thing, match fitness and being ready to play is another thing. I can’t play with everyone.”
“He has to work more to get the intensity and fitness to play at a high level.”
