Gary Neville: Cristiano Ronaldo Was Better For Manchester United Than He Is For Real Madrid

Gary Neville has revealed he believes Cristiano Ronaldo was better for Manchester United than the Portuguese star is for Real Madrid. Neville, who captained Manchester United whilst Ronaldo was at the club, believes between 2006-2008 Real Madrid’s number 7 was unstoppable.
Cristiano Ronaldo scored his 100th Champions League last night, just a week after bagging his 100th in all European competitions. Ronaldo, now 31, helped Real Madrid reach the semi-final stage of the Champions League after beating Bayern Munich 6-3 in an extremely controversial game.
Despite winning an additional THREE Ballon d’Or’s since leaving Manchester United, Neville believes his contribution within games was better at Old Trafford than in Spain.
“When he was at Manchester United, between 2006 and 2008, I still maintain that’s his best two football years as a football player, in terms of his contribution through the whole game,” Neville revealed on Sky Sports.
“Since he’s gone to Real Madrid he’s contributed enormously to everything they’ve done but he’s living more off moments rather than a contribution through a whole 90 minutes. I think we’ve seen the transformation of a player.”
“We’ve seen it with Ryan Giggs. He went from a flying winger to someone who played more centrally as a midfielder.”
