Former Chelsea striker Didier Drogba has explained that his former boss’ treatment of Paul Pogba shows how the Manchester United manager likes his French midfielder.
Pogba, who, after a strong start to the season, has struggled in recent weeks with Mourinho often opting for academy graduate Scott McTominay to start in his place.
The 25-year-old’s relationship with Mourinho has brought rumours of a move away from Old Trafford in the summer despite only joining in 2016 for a then-world record £89m.
Drogba, however, has revealed that Mourinho would not give this treatment to a player he does not like, insisting the Portuguese coach likes Pogba ‘a lot’.
Speaking to Telefoot, Drogba revealed: “It was heated between us on more than one occasion, but Jose will never attack people he doesn’t like.”
“He likes Paul a lot. That is why he has given him a lot of responsibility.”
