In a surprising turn of events, Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has spoken of his relief to be given a second chance from the board to lead the Citizens to glory in the 2017/18 Premier League season. City currently sit in 4th position in the table and could even miss out on Champions League football next season depending on how the remainder of fixtures this season play out.

Considering the withstanding success of Guardiola at his former clubs – winning 21 trophies with FC Barcelona and Bayern Munich – it has surprised many that he has failed that much this season.

However, despite the failures of The Citizens in the league this season, the Spaniard has gone on to express his delight at being handed a second chance, whilst discreetly insulting his current club.

“(The) pressure I had when I arrived in Barcelona, when I had nothing to defend (myself with) – at that club, if in six months you don’t win, you are really out. At Barcelona or Bayern Munich, there you have to win by far. If not, they don’t give you a second chance.”

“Here they gave me a second chance and we will try to do it. In my situation at a big club – I’m sacked, I’m out. Sure. Definitely.”

“At the clubs I worked at before, I am not here, but here we have a second chance and we will try to do it better than this season.”
