Paris Saint-Germain star Neymar has revealed he has always wanted to play for Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola. The Brazilian joined Barcelona after the Spaniard had left the club but has since admitted he wishes to work with him in the future.

Guardiola’s City side reached 100 Premier League points this season and also claimed the Carabao Cup and the addition of Neymar, just a year after his move to Ligue 1, would surely be the biggest transfer English football has seen.

Speaking to ESPN Brasil, Neymar revealed: “I have always wanted to work with [Pep] Guardiola. It’s different, I arrived at Barca after he left. I really want to work with him.”

Although Neymar was unlikely to be hinting at any move to City, a move to England would be sure to eclipse his €220m move to PSG in 2017. The more likely switch would see the Brazilian return to La Liga with Real Madrid who’s players have actively tried to persuade the 26-year-old to move to the Bernabéu.

Neymar was named Ligue 1 Player of the Year despite only making 20 appearances due to injury. However, his failure to win the Champions League could see him switch clubs once again this summer in an attempt to do so with the ultimate prize being the Ballon d’Or.

PSG are also said to be at risk of sanctions after reportedly breaking Financial Fair Play rules in the summer of 2017 when Neymar and Kylian Mbappé arrived in the same summer. If that was so, limitations to their transfer activity could be one of the punishments which could keep Neymar from being allowed to leave the club in Thomas Tuchel’s debut season in France.
