Pep Guardiola has revealed Manchester City knew how dangerous Crystal Palace could be due to Sam Allardyce’s side ‘destroying’ Arsenal earlier this season.

The Eagles put three past Arsenal at Selhurst Park, and Guardiola admitted his tactical set-up was based on stopping man in-form Wilfried Zaha.

City faced Crystal Palace in today’s early kick-off, but it was a walk in the park for Guardiola’s side. The Citizens put FIVE past Wayne Hennessey to further their chance of a Champions League qualification spot.

The Spaniard revealed all in his post-match interview on the Manchester City website, saying:

“We scored in the second minute of the first half and the third minute of the second half, so it made things a lot easier. The fans, players and staff could enjoy the last 40 minutes.”

“We had to pay attention to Wilfried Zaha today because of his pace and we dealt with that really well.”

“We have to remember that not so many weeks ago, Crystal Palace destroyed Arsenal, so I know their qualities.”

“To score five against this team is very good and it is an important result for the mini-league fight that we are in for places in the top four.”

City’s goal-fest meant Kevin De Bruyne moved up to 15 assists in the Premier League this season – more than any other player in the league. Pep Guardiola may have finished the season without a trophy, however, his squad is certainly starting to take it’s shape and could be a force next season.
