Manchester City have announced their second signing of the summer transfer window in the name of exciting goalkeeper Ederson from Benfica for a fee of approximately £35 million.

The goalkeeper has been in fine form in the Primeira Division this season, making 18 clean sheets across 27 appearances, whilst only conceding 12 goals across the season.

The fee regarding the transfer is rather interesting, considering the amount City have paid for the goalkeeper sets a new record of the highest amount paid for a goalkeeper in football history in the British pound, but current conversion rates mean it does not beat the €53 million Juventus paid Parma for Gianluigi Buffon in 2001.

In his first interview since the announcement, the shot-stopper went on to say that;

“I like everything about Manchester City. This is a great club, the league they have here in England and they have amazing fans and they play splendid football. I have always had the dream to play in English football and now I’m going to make it true.”

“With Pep Guardiola, City are growing more and more. He is putting in place a young team for the future. Those were important factors in making my decision. Manchester City has an amazing squad. I think they managed to have a good season. Next season, we will have to be focused to achieve the goal of winning trophies.”
