Liverpool Left To Wait On Coutinho Fitness Ahead Of Southampton Clash

Liverpool now face the potential absence of two key players as they prepare to travel to St Mary to take on Southampton. Adam Lallana, who had to be replaced in England’s 2-2 draw with Spain, is already set to sit out the Saturday’s game with his old club as he nurses a minor groin injury. Now, Brazilian ace Philippe Coutinho could be set to join him on the sidelines after he was photographed at the city’s Spire Hospital on Thursday afternoon where he is believed to have undergone a scan, according to Liverpool Echo.
Brazilian teammates Coutinho and Roberto Firmino had been away for international duty in South America with the duo only arriving back in the UK on Wednesday night. They reported to Melwood on Thursday but neither was involved in first team training given their tiring long journey back from international duty.
Jürgen Klopp’s Liverpool look to defend their position at the top as they travel to St Mary this Saturday, a club which the Reds have heavily recruited from in the past three summers. If Coutinho and Lallana both miss out on the trip to Southampton, this weekend’s fixture will be a real test to Liverpool’s title challenge this season, especially if they manage to grab all three points.
