Liverpool will attempt to sign AS Roma shot-stopper Alisson this summer after Loris Karius failed to repay Jürgen Klopp’s trust in him during the Champions League final defeat to Real Madrid, according to The Telegraph.

Karius was at fault for two of Madrid’s goals, the worst coming from a lapse in concentration which saw him roll the ball out with Karim Benzema just yards away, allowing the Frenchman to block the ball and open the scoring.

Klopp was said to be considering the addition of a new number one earlier this season but after Karius’ performance in Liverpool’s biggest game since the former Borussia Dortmund coach’s arrival, a move for Alisson is now heavily on the cards.

The report says that Klopp believes Alisson is the only goalkeeper worth pursuing and if AS Roma refuse to sell to Liverpool, he may be forced into attempting to re-build Karius’ status at Anfield, however hard that may be.

Roma had sold Mohamed Salah to the Reds last year and a refusal to sell another key player to the same club could be likely as the Italian side attempt to prevent themselves taking over Southampton as Liverpool’s new player-provider. However, if the Brazilian goalkeeper asked to leave Italy, the move is said to be possible.
