Liverpool shot-stopper Loris Karius had revealed he ‘feels nothing’ after his brace of blunders allowed Real Madrid to claim their third-successive Champions League title.

Though the German was blameless for Gareth Bale’s stunning overhead kick, his costly mistake by gifting Karim Benzema Madrid’s opener was later added to by failing to stop Bale’s long-range effort.

Karius, who has now been the subject of death threats from social media users, has admitted his mistakes cost Jürgen Klopp’s side the chance at claiming Europe’s biggest prize. As quoted by Sky Sports, Karius admitted: “I don’t feel anything right now.”

“Today I lost my team the game and I feel sorry for everyone – from the team, from the whole club – that the mistakes cost dearly. If I could go back in time, I would. I feel sorry for my team. I know I let them down today. These goals cost us the title basically.”

“It’s very hard right now but that’s the life of a goalkeeper. You have to get your head up again.”

Karius approached the Liverpool end after full-time and asked for forgiveness from fans. However, many have criticised his teammates for not being there for him after the final whistle, defeating the object of the clubs motto ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’.

However, Karius has since admitted that fellow Liverpool players did try to comfort him in the dressing room: “Of course, everyone tried to cheer me up. But there was just silence everywhere because everyone was really disappointed.”
