Manchester United manager José Mourinho has aimed a sly dig at Jürgen Klopp after the German blamed the wind as a reason Liverpool found it hard to overcome Claude Puel’s Southampton in Wednesday night’s EFL Cup semi-final clash at Anfield.

United, despite losing their 17-game unbeaten run against Hull last night, still did enough to make it to Wembley as Paul Pogba’s goal separated the sides on aggregate. Mourinho, who turned 54 yesterday, wasn’t in the greatest moods following United’s loss to Hull as his team fell behind to a Tom Huddlestone penalty, which was a very debatable decision.

Mourinho and Klopp have recently shown their frosty relationship publicly, with Klopp aiming the first dig as the Liverpool boss mentioned Mourinho’s ‘long-ball strategy’. after his side drew with United at Old Trafford after being ahead. It seems Mourinho has been waiting to return the favour and aimed a sly dig at the German in his post-match comments at the KCOM Stadium.
