Borussia Dortmund v Liverpool – Match Ratings

Well organised performance bar the one incident where their centre half was allowed to wander onto the edge of the box unmarked to equalise. However a lot of positives against a very good German side.
Some excellent individual performances and now back to Anfield week today to determine who will be going through to the semi finals.
Here are my match ratings:
Simon Mignolet 7/10 – Had my heart in my match when Aubameyang came to close him down with the ball at his feet, but did well. Safe hands throughout the match, and I don’t always say that about the Belgian, credit where it’s due.
Nathaniel Clyne 6/10 – Some of his passing was wayward tonight, and as mentioned previously, has a tendency to switch off when ball is on opposite side of the pitch to him, needs to be more alert to dangers. But is a good athlete, whose recovery speed often gets him out of danger.
Alberto Moreno 6/10 – Lucky not to get at least a yellow when jumped into a challenge when frustration got the better of him. Worked hard down left side, but not able to get forward as much as would like as had Mkhitaryan down his side to worry about second half. Should of got out quicker to stop their cross for equaliser.
Dejan Lovren 8/10 – Excellent on the night, spotted runs in behind and dealt with the situation. Fantastic block on Aubameyang in first half. If only he could of done better with a great chance to score on first half with a header.
Mamadou Sakho 8/10 – Frenchman was excellent. Threw his body into clearances and blocks and positionally snuffed out a few dangerous crosses that came in. Him and Lovren superb on the night.
Emre Can 7/10 – Few wayward passes, but provided cover a few times with his athletism allowing him to stop a few potential counter attacks by Dortmund.
Jordan Henderson 6/10 – Got an injury early on and did not appear for the second half. Few wayward passes. Picked up a knee injury which means could be out for a while.
James Milner 7/10 – Put the opposition under pressure with his pressing. Good delivery on crosses, started narrow left and ended up on right side providing cover. Gave the flick on for Origi’s goal. Put in a great shift for the team.
Phillipe Coutinho 6/10 – Quiet night for the Brazilian, had few chances but almost scored. Played wider left as normal and put in a good shift for the team covering back.
Adam Lallana 6/10 – Worked hard for the team, but was unable to influence the game further forward, replaced late on.
Divock Origi 8/10 – Outstanding performance. Held ball up well, run into the channels and scored a goal through effort and power. Almost got a second.
Joe Allen 7/10 – Came on for Henderson, showed a calmness and used the ball very well, added to the fluidity on the movement of the ball.
Daniel Sturridge and Roberto Firmino not on long enough to have any real impact or to give a relative rating
