How Has Jürgen Klopp Got The Best Out Of Philippe Coutinho?

The brilliance of Philippe Coutinho shouldn’t be questioned and although the little Brazilian being world-class is questionable, Coutinho has made a sublime start to his fourth season at Liverpool.
When Coutinho was bought from ex-red manager Rafa Benitez, whilst in charge of Inter Milan, the 24-year-old had no pressure whatsoever upon joining the club, due to him being bought at the bargain price of £8.5 million. Coutinho had a free role for the majority of his time under former manager Brendan Rodgers and as the season went by, Coutinho’s form slightly improved. Now, under Jürgen Klopp, he’s turned out to be one of the few players in the league that can make something out of nothing.
How Has Jürgen Klopp Transformed Coutinho?
Coutinho’s attacking flair has been key to the successful start to Liverpool’s campaign under Jürgen Klopp. Since Klopp came in – in October, he’s given Coutinho a wide role on the left, bringing his best qualities within Klopp’s high heavy-metal football. This is key to the Klopp system and Philippe is vital to the team.
With Firmino offering stability up top, Coutinho has a role wide left to interchange with Firmino and Mané; this is worked a treat and the system has been effective. This all comes down to Jürgen Klopp’s style and intelligence in management.
With Sadio Mané’s pace which was needed due to the lack of pace last season, Jürgen Klopp has made a great addition with the signing of Mané and has proved his worth only 3 months into his Liverpool career. Mané’s lightening pace suits Coutinho’s vision, combining to form a formidable partnership. An example of this is at Selhurst Park when Liverpool faced Crystal Palace. Philippe Coutinho got one of his two MOTM awards that day, with the help of Mané’s effectiveness on the counter-attack. Mané has been influential since joining he has been so positive going forward. For £36 million, it seems like a bargain with his attacking intent but not only that, his backtracking has been misjudged by fans and he should be given great credit for.
The Big Question – Can Liverpool Keep Hold Of Coutinho?
The big money spenders can’t afford the transfer for Philippe Coutinho. It’s hard to decide if Coutinho will stay past this season but I believe he will, due to the fact that Barcelona haven’t got the funds to afford the transfer of Coutinho after giving Messi, Suarez and Neymar all long-term contracts – Barca have Iniesta, Rakitic, Busquets and Andre Gomes in the same area of position which wouldn’t benefit Coutinho who would want to progress as a player.
Real Madrid can’t give game time to Isco or James who have the same ability as Coutinho. Coutinho has said on many occasions that he’s happy to stay, recently coming out and expressing that Klopp has given him confidence – he feels like he’s at home. This gives me great confidence because in the past we haven’t been able to keep our best players e.g. Suarez, Alonso etc. With stability in the Champions League and us improving year by year, why wouldn’t Coutinho stay with us?
