According to the Mirror, Tottenham will move for Leicester City’s Demarai Gray before deadline day as the winger grows frustrated over his lack of game time. The report says the 21-year-old has asked the Foxes to provide him more playing time or allow him to move on from the King Power Stadium.

Despite Riyad Mahrez’s request to leave Leicester, the Algerian could be set to stay at Leicester for another year following a lack of bids that meet the valuation placed on him by Craig Shakespeare and his board.

A swap deal was reported to be of interest with Crystal Palace’s Andros Townsend, however, Sky Sources have now claimed that it won’t happen. The Mirror also say that Gray earns £25,000 a week, with wage offers being increased by interested clubs, including Tottenham and Bournemouth, it’s likely a move has become even more of interest to the youngster.

With Mahrez being linked to Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea and even a move to Italy, Gray’s playing time could be significantly increased if Craig Shakespeare chooses to invest elsewhere in his team, though with less than 48 hours left in the window, the chances of the Algerian leaving Leicester are becoming slimmer by the minute.

Tottenham are yet to bolster their attacking options, with the only addition so far being Davinson Sánchez who arrived from Ajax. With Moussa Sissoko being a miss and Harry Kane’s slow start to the Premier League season, Gray’s development could excel under Mauricio Pochettino, especially given the Argentine’s reputation with English prospects.
