Leicester News Swansea Transfer Rumours

Leicester are reportedly wasting no time in strengthening their squad for next season, with a £30 million deal reportedly offered to Swansea for the services of Gylfi Sigurðsson.

Interest in the Icelandic International has been fierce since his 13 assists and 9 goals played a crucial role in keeping the Swans in the Premier League last season. Swansea will be determined to keep hold of their star man, but Everton and Spurs are amongst the other clubs linked with a move.

Owner Steve Kaplan last month expressed his desire to keep Sigurdsson, saying:

“We all know how important he is. There has been interest in him before, there were some pretty big enquiries last summer but we didn’t sell him then, and we don’t want to now.”

With another three years remaining on a contract only signed in January, and with the club’s reluctance to sell, it is likely that even a £30m may not be enough with some sources stating that Swansea would demand £40m for their man.

Leicester will need extra firepower if they do lose Riyad Mahrez, who has expressed a desire to leave, and the Foxes are currently priced as short as 5/1 with some bookmakers. However, Everton remain the favourites to land Sigurðsson’s signature, most bookies offering odds of just 4/11 on a move to Merseyside.
